  • A few upgrades can do more damage than good to your laptop.

By now, you should have understood the very basics of upgrading your laptop.

Now let’s stop beating around the bush and jump right in. Here are a few BEST ways of upgrading your laptop.

Consider Upgrading Your Laptop Battery

It’s Simple Really.

If your laptop starts losing battery capacity in the first few months of use, you ought to consider buying a higher-capacity battery or replacing it entirely. You won’t have to keep your laptop plugged in all the time or risk it running out on you during an important task.

We All Know How Annoying it Can Get, Right?

While upgrading your laptop’s battery, it’s best if you buy the official version of it. You can’t trust the third-party batteries with the same quality control as opposed to the official laptop vendors.

HERE’S HOW YOU DO IT:

Remove the bottom panel of your laptop using a screwdriver. Disconnect the original battery and insert the new one. Reattach the bottom panel and calibrate it.

To calibrate the new battery, try charging your laptop to a full 100% and keep charging it for another two hours. Use the laptop normally until the battery drains and charge it again to a full 100% after five hours.

Upgrade Your Laptop’s RAM

This Is Important: Your laptop should have at least 8GB RAM, to begin with.

WHY IS THIS SO: Because manufacturers nowadays are soldering it to the motherboard, you might be unable to upgrade the RAM afterward.

But before you start panicking, here’s the SILVER LINING. Several laptops still let you add more RAM via access through the bottom panel.

If you are using a laptop with 4GB RAM, consider upgrading it to 8GB. Similarly, if you have a laptop with 8GB RAM, upgrade it to 16GB if you intend to run high-intensity programs on your laptop.

Now here’s the next step.

Most traditional laptops feature a special memory panel on the bottom of the laptop. You can use it to gain access to the RAM slots on your motherboard. You can either add more RAM  if slots are available.

OR you could just replace the current RAM sticks with new ones.

The GOOD NEWS is that RAMs are relatively cheap. Turns out, you don’t have to sell an arm and a leg to do so.

I Can’t Stress This Enough.

The EASIEST WAY to speed up your laptop is by adding a solid-state drive(SSD) to it.You’ll be glad to know that Not only will it make everything faster but you can also save more data on your laptop.

Nowadays, laptops are manufactured largely with SSDs. However, if you have one of the older laptops, it might still have a traditional hard drive inside it. Get an SSD hard drive that is the right size for your particular laptop or else it won’t fit.

HERE’S HOW IT’S DONE: All you have to do is open your laptop with a screwdriver and remove the current hard drive. Replace it with the new Solid-State drive. You might have to either reinstall Windows afterward or make a copy of your Operating System drive first.

In general, an SSD 7mm or under it will fit. However, it’s still a good idea to check your current hard drive to ensure you get the right size.
